So You Want an Affordable Redwood Wedding in Northern California

SNEAKY SECRETS

Hands down, the number one venue request we receive is this: affordable, redwoods, Northern California. And while we love the romance of a towering forest ceremony, the truth is there are not a ton of venues that check all three boxes.
That said, we are not gatekeepers. If you’re dreaming of a whimsical, woodsy wedding and love the vibe of places like Nestldown, here are our go-to alternatives that deliver serious forest magic without requiring a miracle budget.

Outdoor Art Club | Mill Valley
Tucked right into downtown Mill Valley, the Outdoor Art Club is a total hidden gem. You get lush gardens, towering trees, and classic architecture all in one place. Guests love the walkable location, and it feels intimate, elegant, and quietly magical without feeling remote. It’s an especially great option for couples who want a forest feel but also value convenience and charm.

Falkirk Cultural Center | San Rafael
Falkirk offers a beautiful blend of manicured gardens, striking historic architecture, and pockets of deep, woodsy surroundings. The estate itself feels grand yet welcoming, and the grounds provide variety for ceremony, cocktail hour, and portraits. If you want greenery with character and a slightly unexpected edge, this is a wonderful option.

Piedmont Community Hall | Piedmont
For couples who want a true redwood moment, the ceremony site here delivers. You can exchange vows beneath the trees, then transition to the Community Hall for the reception. It’s a smart, flexible setup that gives you the forest ceremony you’re dreaming of without committing to a fully outdoor event all day.

Old Mill Park + The Junction | Mill Valley
This is one of our favorite “think outside the venue box” options. For a day-use fee of around $1,000, you can get married in the redwoods at Old Mill Park, right in the heart of Mill Valley. Afterward, head to a nearby restaurant like The Junction for a relaxed, celebratory reception. It’s charming, budget-friendly, and feels very Northern California in the best way. Check out Jen and Andrew's wedding that combined this fabulous pair of venues.

Brazilian Room | Berkeley Hills
Absolutely stunning. Nestled in the Berkeley hills, the Brazilian Room offers dramatic redwoods, an iconic stone building, and a true sense of occasion. It feels elevated and timeless, with the kind of natural beauty that doesn’t need much embellishment. This is a longtime favorite for a reason.

Marin Art & Garden Center | Ross
Lush, layered, and serene, the Marin Art & Garden Center is ideal for couples who love a garden-forward take on the forest vibe. While it leans more botanical than deep woods, the mature trees, pathways, and quiet elegance make it feel like a secret retreat. It’s especially lovely for spring and early summer weddings.

Evergreen Lodge & Rush Creek Lodge | Near Yosemite
Okay, not technically Bay Area, but very much worth the mention. Evergreen Lodge and Rush Creek Lodge sit just outside Yosemite and are two of the most beautiful, guest-friendly forest venues we know. They offer towering pines, cozy-luxe accommodations, and a true weekend-away experience. Personal favorite note here: my husband and I were married at Evergreen Lodge, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts.

If your heart is set on tall trees, filtered light, and that deep exhale feeling only a forest can give, know this: the redwoods are generous, even if the venue lists are not. With a little creativity and the right priorities, you can absolutely capture that magic without overextending your budget or your sanity. And as always, the goal is not perfection, it’s presence. Choose a place that feels like you, trust a good team, and let the trees do what they do best: show up quietly and steal the show.
